Irgendwann wirst du verstehen

In the documentary “One Day You’ll Understand”, the focus is on giving a voice to queer people — and to myself. It’s about stories. Lived experiences of discrimination, suffering, oppression, and fear.

Stories told with courage. The goal is to remind us all that the dream of an equal world is still far from reality. Achieving that dream requires education, resilience, and people who raise their voices — people who show how much they endure, and yet never lose their courage. We’ve seen and experienced what can be achieved when people dare to challenge the norm.

But the fight is far from over.

The premiere of the documentary took place on April 28, 2023, at the Crossing Europe Festival in Linz. It was a powerful moment in which the voices of the queer community were heard and celebrated.

The film was also screened at Kino Ebensee as part of an event hosted by the Salzkammergut queer community. It was further shown at the “Der neue Heimatfilm” Festival in Freistadt and during the Campus Exhibition at the Ars Electronica Festival.
